Brake specific fuel consumption indicates how much fuel is needed to produce one unit of useful engine energy; it is often expressed in g/kWh. The lower this figure, the less fuel is needed for the same useful work. Journey consumption in l/100 km also depends on the vehicle and driving conditions.
