QUESTION 162Not studied yet

When is a working-time break required if you spend much of the day loading and doing paperwork?

EU: working-time breaksCompared with sources

Answer

You must not work for more than 6 consecutive hours without a break. Total work of 6–9 hours requires at least 30 minutes of breaks, and more than 9 hours requires at least 45 minutes; each part must be at least 15 minutes.

Please note

Working-time and driving-break requirements apply together; work cannot form part of a break.

A simple explanation

Driving and other work are counted together. A working-time break may therefore be due before you accumulate 4.5 hours of driving. Plan around whichever working-time or driving limit is reached first.

REMEMBER

You were doing more than driving, but it was still work.

  3. One scenario. Decide before revealing the solution. Explain the reasons for your chosen action.
  4. A few quiz questions. Read the explanation for each option. You can finish the quiz early; the remaining questions will be marked as unanswered.
  5. Discussion. Everyone names one useful point and one thing that needs correcting.

How can you share or suggest a correction?

You will find the question link and feedback field below this section. Lessons, diagrams and scenarios have their own ‘Copy link’ button. ‘Suggest a correction’ helps you prepare a note with the specific link and version label. Copy or download the text and pass it on for review.

Discuss: is it easy to find an answer and return to the question? Can you explain the reason and the limits of the rule's application? Which sentence is misleading? Flag any significant legal or safety uncertainty for checking before using the material.
