QUESTION 157Not studied yet

In week one, you reduced your required weekly rest to 24 hours. How much must you compensate, and by when, under the general rule?

EU: weekly rest compensationCompared with sources

Answer

Compensate 21 hours in one uninterrupted block attached to another rest of at least 9 hours, by the end of week four.

Please note

This concerns one reduced rest, not the exception for two consecutive reduced rests. The compensation must be completed by the deadline.

A simple explanation

The shortfall is 45 − 24 = 21 hours. The deadline is the end of the third week following the week of the reduction, so in this example it is Sunday at 24:00 in week four. Adding the compensation to a regular weekly rest gives 45 + 21 = 66 hours.

REMEMBER

24 → 21 hours owed; take the compensation all at once.
